Celebrating Christmas with Brian

Image
Christmas came early for the AIC yellow jackets as our team impact member Brian opened up his gifts from the team. For those of you that do not know Brian  suffers from a rare disease that stops him from playing sports. to help lift Brian's spirits he is an official member of the baseball team. Brian loves hanging out with the guys and chewing gum. Below is a video of Brian's signing day when he became the youngest member in history of AIC baseball. Brian has become loved by all of his AIC family and we felt he deserved some presents. Accompanied by his family, Brian opened up legos and star wars gift as they snacked on his favorite pizza from Red Rose. After the gifts were opened several light saber duels and Nerf wars took over the hall of fame room. After the fun was over Brian stayed with a few of his closer teammates and made ginger bread houses. All together it was a great night for the yellow jackets as we continue to grow as a family. team impact:  http://www.

Featured Coach of the Week

Image
Tyler Gauthier is currently in his second year as pitching coach for the Yellow Jackets. Over his time as part of the program he has built  up a pitching staff that can compete with anyone in the league. Tyler played four years of college ball at Southern New Hampshire( boooo )  were after graduation he went on to play 3 years of professional baseball in two different organizations. Over his time as a player Gauthier brings valuable knowledge that only a player could have. Now that his playing days are over he is focused on his coaching strategy.  His program rivals any other as it consists of high intensity training, weighted baseballs , and a complex arm care routine to build strength and avoid injury. This program has paid off big as all of our pitchers are stronger and throwing faster. Always good to throw hard in baseball! Week 3 Featured Player

Image
This week we put the spotlight on Reed Phillips the red-shirt Jr right fielder. Reed is now entering his fourth year as a member of this program and has been one of the teams core players since his recruitment coming out of high school. In his first two seasons Reed developed into an every day starting right fielder. He put up consistent numbers and finished his year batting just above 280. Additionally Reed stared to play great the second half of his sophomore season finishing as one of the teams best hitters. Reed sat out his Jr. campaign due to a shoulder injury. This was a major blow to the team. When asked about what happened coach simply said " this is devastating". After a year on the sideline reeds bat will return to the lineup and complete what looks to be one of the best batting orders in the conference. Defenses is also one of reed's strong suits. His ability to lock down right field combined with his high on base percentage will certainly be needed if the Ye

2018 Team Break Down

The spring months are quickly approaching and with the mild spring weather comes another year of Yellow Jackets Baseball.  Coming Into this Season the Baseball team feels confident they can build off of last year as they return all but two of their starters. Having a second year to develop this years sophomore class will have high expectations following their strong first years. The Yellow Jackets pitching staff will have a lot of unfimialir face for the second year in arrow as a group of high potential freshmen will once again be asked to take on the majority of innings pitched.  for the hitters this years offense looks as strong as it ever has. A combination of players maturing and a few key transfers has this offense set for high volume scoring, something very hard to come by in the NE10. no one knows exactly how this season will go but it is great to see that the program looks to have a bright future for a deeper breakdown watch out for our featured player of the week. AIC Baseball Strikes Out Hunger

Over the last month the Yellow Jackets baseball team has bee running its 2nd annual canned food drive for Lauren soup kitchen. last year  the baseball team managed to raised over 400lbs of food, an honorable number for their first effort. This year the team set there sights high and and targeted  1000 lbs of food as their goal.  More than doubling last years total seemed like a difficult task but the baseball team believed that with more marketing and experience this fundraiser was going to do great. Grad student Jason Coscio the player in charge of this event said that he was very nervous to see if the team reached its goal. " I really hope we reach this goal, our guys have put a lot of work into raising this food. obviously the more we raise the more people we can help." said Coscio. When weigh in time came there was a lot of anticipation but  that turned into excitement has the scale shattered the goal. In total the baseball team raised over 1,4000 lbs of food! That
